Business Blogging is about driving traffic to your company’s website by delivering value to the reader. Hubspot has demonstrated that companies that blog receive 55% more traffic and 70% more leads compared to companies that don’t. In this new economy, having a strong internet presence is a must. If your competitors are not doing it, then it becomes an additional competitive advantage for your company.
The video below emphasizes 3 business blogging best practices. They are:
Blogging is a critical component of Inbound Marketing and if done properly will significantly increase the amount of traffic to your website. Readers will flock to your blog not for them to have your products/services marketed to them but rather to receive the value that you are delivering through useful and relevant information published on your blog. If the content is useful and relevant, readers will keep on coming back and then they will naturally begin to explore the rest of your website and inquire about your products/services, which ultimately makes it a much simpler and faster sale.
The second best practice is keeping the blog’s layout simple. There are a number of options out there but the most commonly used and for good reasons is what is called the “2 columns layout”. This is the layout used as you are reading this post. One column contains the text/content, while the second column delivers additional information and benefits such as ways to connect via social media, listing other popular posts which may be of interest to the readers, and a search feature to name a few. There are other layouts out there such as the 1 column layout, the 3 column layout, the magazine layout, and they can be useful as well but they need to be used with more caution.
The third best practice is that whoever will be blogging in your company HAS to be passionate. That word can mean a number of things and the passion can be directed at a number of things. The blogger has to be passionate about blogging, the social media, writing, and most importantly: the company. Having these qualities will yield higher quality and more engaging blog posts that will drive traffic and leads to your site.
