Search Engines have come a long way! Long are the days of Search Engines not being able to find themselves (yes it was true). Since their inception, search engines have gone through literally though thousands of algorithms change, update, and refreshes. Some of these algorithms changes were named, and are now famous, such as Panda and Penguin, and others remained nameless even though they were significant. Now with the recent release of “Knowledge Graph” they are even able to search what we “meant” to search and not just what we actually typed in the little white box. It is a Google world today but it wasn’t always like that. This History actually started several years before Larry Page and Sergey Brin ever published their now legendary academic article describing PageRank. Below is a great Infographic showing the chronological evolution of Search Engines.
